Welcome. I'm Jim Wells. People sometimes get discouraged and feel shame as a result of having to figure it out on their own. You have the strength and resources to lead a happy and fulfilling life, but you also need support. Sometimes we need to have someone to talk to that is not a friend or family member. We can analyse our feelings, but we only feel them when we express them to another person. This takes time and courage, but you can do it.
Sometimes we need someone objective to bring harmony and understanding to a relationship that is filled with pain and distrust. We all have love languages; and sometimes our spouse is giving us the love language that they want instead of the one that we need. This miscommunication often leads to withdrawal. At times, children feel the same way. As a systemic therapist, I assist in helping family members communicate effectively, understand each family member's concerns, and move in a more unified direction.

Children sometimes act out because they are wanting our attention. They develop an inaccurate self-concept and belief that they can only get our attention by acting helpless, defiant, or by seeking undue attention. We can change this inaccurate self-concept by interacting with them in more positive ways. Children sometimes have difficulty expressing their feelings verbally. Play therapy is a way for children to work through issues symbolically and for parents to improve the way the child is relating to them by using specific skills that I can teach you.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Sometimes anxiety, fear, and hopelessness make it difficult to function and affect not only work but also our personal lives. I can help you learn to relate differently to these symptoms and work toward experiencing true joy and happiness again.
Sometimes we have difficulty getting past a loss and in the midst of grief, internalize all of the the guilt and anger we are experiencing. Sometimes negative experiences have made the world a scary place and we feel we are trapped in our own skin. Counseling can be a safe place to help you navigate through this maze and find the light at the end of the tunnel, which often is peace and acceptance.
